Confidentiality – the best kept secret

The following story highlights better than anything we could say about protecting clients and your company’s business.

Most of the tips and advice we give on this blog refers to security and to those who are engaged in the protection of others. Most of it is also a matter of common sense and applicable to all of society.

If you could only use three words to describe what you do or to characterize your company or firm, what would they be? Ours are; Dedicated. Diligent. Discreet. I chose these words when I founded my firm based on their strength and the reassuring message that they delivered.

First of all, I do not believe that we would ever have someone working for us who would show such a blatant disregard for company business. The old phrase; “lose lips sink ships,” is as relevant today as it was at any time in the past.

If however, we did discover this type of breach, we would terminate the person immediately as that person’s actions portrayed them to be someone who would be detrimental to the company and to the company’s clients. In short, they would have become an unaffordable liability.

People talking about their business on cell phones within earshot of those around them is nothing new. Perhaps it is time that people started to put more thought into their actions. With all of the economic problems we face, is this the time you want to be fired for lack of discretion?

Not that there would ever be a good time for failing to be discreet.
