Lawyers in Pakistan Supporting Slain Governor’s Murderer

A BBC news report by M. Khan in Islamabad looks at a possible “Tipping Point” in Pakistan, following the murder of the Governor of Punjab province.

Governor Taseer was murdered by his bodyguard, Mumtas Qadri. In a shocking turn of events, lawyers rushed to show their support of the murderer of a constitutionally elected official and hailed him as a hero by showering him with rose petals at his court appearance.

It is said that moderates and liberals in Pakistan are now afraid to comment on the situation for fear that they may meet the same fate as that of Governor Tasheer.
