Virginia Governor agrees with being able to carry concealed in restaurants

In an interview with WTOP radio yesterday, Virginia’s Governor, Bob McDonnell stated that he agrees with a bill which would allow permit holders to carry concealed in restaurants where alcohol is served.

This will come as welcome news to the area’s Personal Protection Specialists who have long had to lock their firearms in their vehicle before accompanying clients into restaurants.

It will still be illegal to consume alcohol while carrying concealed and rightfully so. Protestors of the bill will most likely claim that this will be a dangerous move and will mean more people will carry their firearms into restaurants and bars.

The fact of the matter is, there are those who are already breaking the law – such as Plaxico Burress. They are probably the same ones who would carry concealed and consume alcohol. That will be the responsibility of law enforcement officers to detect and prosecute them.

This law will benefit the responsible law abiding segment of the population, such as those of us who need to use firearms in connection with our livelihoods. It will also aid those who are legally entitled to carry a concealed weapon and due to particular circumstances, have a legitimate need to protect themselves.
