Who really killed Robert Wone?

The Robert Wone murder trial finished today in D.C. Superior Court. As a result, the three co-defendants; Joeseph R. Price, Victory J. Zaborsky and Dylan M. Ward were all acquitted. It could be said, they “pulled an O.J.”

Both the Police and D.C. Superior Judge Lynn Leibowitz suspected that the three knew more than they disclosed. Judge Leibowitz said that they knew who killed Robert Wone, but “prosecutors failed to prove conspiracy, obstruction-of-justice or tampering-with-evidence charges”.

This is a bizarre case. The three co-defendants were involved in a manage-a-trois relationship, yet the defendant was said to be hetrosexual. He came to be at the apartment on the night of his murder because he didn’t want to drive all the way home to Virginia. His body had puncture marks as if a drug may have been adminsitered and he didn’t show any signs of having struggled with his attackers.

It is difficult to understand how experienced Police Detectives, who already poked holes in the “intruder” theory were unable to crack this case. One would think that these three would have great difficulty holding out during interrogation. Today they walked away as free men. From criminal prosecution anyway.

Just like in the O.J. Simpson case, they were found not guilty of murder, but are now subject to a $20 million civil suit brought against them by the victim’s widow. Just as it was with O.J., it may be difficult for her to collect since their defense is believed to have cost around $2 million.
